Throughout my career, I have carried out extensive research with numerous publications in national and international academic journals. My studies primarily focus on cinema, literature, and memory studies, exploring their connections to culture and society. In addition to my academic work, I have also written fiction and poetry, experimenting with other forms of storytelling and personal expression.

Shout "Viva!" in Las Vegas

Published in 2021, Shout "Viva!" in Las Vegas is the title of my first novel. A story that, although presented as a crime novel, blends suspense with sharp and ironic humor. Through its pages, I aim to explore various philosophical conceptions of what it means to (sur)vive in the capitalist system.

Synopsis:

A big heist at a Las Vegas casino, a kidnapping full of mysteries, a croupier who performs magic, a sports bag full of money, and a perfect plan that went wrong. Would you still live a poor life with two million dollars?

May 1999, the suffocating and prefab city of Las Vegas. The bohemian, electric, and ultracapitalist Paris of the 21st century. Jake endures an existential crisis working as a hotel bellboy in a world where not everyone can be a rock star. Thus, along with his energetic friend Sony, every night he escapes the daily grind, enjoying his own particular Disneyland of gambling, drugs, quickie weddings, and sex in luxury suites. Evasion as a constant way of life, until everything changes the day an unexpected stroke of luck makes him a millionaire. It is then that happiness becomes an achievable goal, desires stop being vague illusions, and real problems soon emerge.

Memories of a Boy in Pajamas

Memories of a Boy in Pajamas is the title of my first poetry collection, which was awarded the Accésit in the poetry category of the Young Art Contest by the Youth Institute of the Castilla y León Regional Government. In addition to the prize, this distinction led to the publication of the work, making it possible for you to read it now.

Synopsis:

Memories of a Boy in Pajamas seeks to explore, from a philosophical perspective, the formation of childhood memories and how they shape the personality of the often ignorant adult. It consists of 36 poems that serve as a testimony of a lost and evolving memory. The poems, therefore, trace a journey through a series of fragmented images that present all kinds of realities: confused, distorted, idealized, and invented. The poetry collection tracks the origins of innocence and love while raising questions about the onset of anguish and anxiety during puberty. Thus, from this archaeology of memory, questions about the present emerge, related to the failure of romantic relationships based on the burden individuals carry, which they hide until it becomes impossible to continue the facade.

The author dissects himself, from a failed relationship to a lost past where perspectives were open and determination was sweetly invisible. After all, the adult remains a vulnerable child in pajamas.
